Aviation Accidents and Injury Claims

Our firm has handled commercial and general aviation accident matters, including claims involving aircraft and component manufacturers. The practice includes experience with mass air crash litigation, fixed-wing and helicopter accidents, and international aviation claims.

Accident cases require attention to potential sources of evidence and the roles of the people and businesses involved. Depending on the event, relevant material may include aircraft maintenance records, operating information, witness accounts, medical records, and technical analysis. Responsibility should be evaluated against the evidence rather than assumed from an early report.

  • Commercial and general aviation accidents
  • Plane and helicopter crash claims
  • Aircraft and component-related claims
  • Serious injury and wrongful death matters
  • International air travel claims, including matters involving the Montreal Convention

FAA Enforcement and Certification Matters

For a pilot or aviation business, an enforcement or certification issue can affect both livelihood and operations. Our firm has experience representing pilots and fixed base operators in FAA enforcement and certification matters, including airman and medical certificate issues.

We review the notice, correspondence, records, and procedural posture to identify the issues and the response required. Preserve relevant documents and seek advice promptly when you receive a notice or other communication that may require action. The appropriate approach depends on the specific matter and its deadlines.

Aircraft Owners, Pilots, and Aviation Businesses

Aviation-related legal needs extend beyond accidents. Our attorneys have represented clients across operations, manufacturing, maintenance, overhaul, certification, and compliance matters. We also handle aviation business litigation involving the acquisition and purchase of aircraft and aircraft-related components.

We focus on the documents, the technical facts, and the practical objective. For a transaction dispute, this may include reviewing purchase terms, representations, inspection records, payment obligations, and the parties’ communications. For an operational dispute, the priority may be protecting records, understanding obligations, and finding a workable path forward.

What to Bring to an Aviation Consultation

For an accident or injury, gather the incident date and location, operator information, travel documents, photographs, medical records available to you, and relevant correspondence. For an FAA matter, bring the notice and any related communications. For an aircraft or business dispute, include contracts, transaction records, and a timeline.

You do not need to have every document before contacting us. An initial conversation can help identify the information needed to evaluate the matter.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you handle both aviation injury claims and pilot matters?

Yes. Our aviation practice includes accident and injury claims as well as FAA enforcement, certification, aircraft transaction disputes, and aviation business litigation, subject to conflicts and evaluation of the matter.

Does an aviation accident always involve the same law?

No. The route, location, parties, and nature of the flight may affect the governing law and where a claim can be brought. International travel and other specialized matters require a case-specific review.

How soon should I contact an aviation attorney?

Promptly. Evidence preservation and response deadlines can be important in both accident claims and regulatory matters. Do not assume that a general personal injury deadline applies to every aviation issue.
